a vacation for dentist

this is a question we keep debating.taking a few days off is different but a full fledged vacation???."mad or what if i close my clinic for 15 days,my patients will go to dr.xxxxx. i cannot afford it".why dont u giv this advice to dr.xxxxx.?"

dentist slog hard whole year, hence we deserve it.we need to think .we need a break to rejenuvate.but competition.dental jobs scarcity. is what prevents us from taking the deserved breaks.but we should take such breaks

is risk worth it

a fressher pass out from a dental college or a dentist with a secured college teaching job always asks himself this question.becoz it means money. On oneside u join a college secured job, money flowing in but future prospects r depressing. but with so much competition why not play safe.
i hav had this dilemma.it just plays on ur mind
to be frank both hav their pros and cons. but full time practice is the right option which many find difficult to take.
they want a half effort college plus evening clinic, results also r halved my dear. i dint listen, many r just following into my shoes
thanx GOD i opted later for full time practise

the clinical dilemma,to extract or not

As a dental practitioner, i still remember wht my teachers used to say"'dont remove a tooth if it can be saved ,bcoz u can replace a tooth, but nt create a new one."
but in practice sum ppl are really adamant on extraction.sum have been told by their family, peers, and every tom, dick and harry, that extraction is the best treatment.yes it is if u want to look 80 year old at the age of 20.yes it is if u want to stop relishing good food in teens itself.

yesterday was the day i had such patient.no amount of convincing helped.i removed the 2 vital teeth, one of them molar, in a patient aged 24 yrs, just bcoz the patient wont like iota of more pain.

i know the pain is so much but still loss is loss. i really felt bad for him, one more person wud be come 80yr old fast.root canal treatments save teeth, and we dentists just want to save your teeth, we r nt doing it just for money sake.
ours still is a noble profession, where a patient relieved from pain thanking us,gives us more satisfaction.
